Spray Foam Equipment Cleaning Solvent
Spray foam applicators are used to apply insulation in building construction. When not properly cleaned, it can lead to clogs, uneven insulation application, and potential equipment failure. Routine spray foam equipment cleaning is critical for the equipment to work as intended, providing high-quality results and ensuring equipment longevity. AcraStrip has been developed as an eco-conscious DPM replacement for effective cleaning of spray foam equipment.
Spray Foam Equipment Cleaning Process
To maintain the optimal performance of spray foam equipment, cleaning is essential. Our DPM replacement can effectively remove residue from spray foam tools, providing high-quality solutions to restore equipment performance. Before beginning the cleaning process, make sure you have all necessary supplies, including safety gear, tools for disassembly, and cleaning aids. The procedure for cleaning spray foam equipment follows these steps:
- Begin by disassembling the spray foam applicator, ensuring the proportioner pump is turned off and the hoses are disconnected. Cover the hose ends to prevent moisture contamination and remove excess pressure from the lines, flushing the interior chamber by following the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Remove the covers and filters to reach internal areas if the applicator has excessive buildup. Be sure to carefully dismantle parts to avoid damage.
- Soak parts first then use a soft brush and spray foam equipment with Acrastrip to scrub applicator parts, dislodging and removing debris. Rinse with freshwater once clean. The easier/least labor method of cleaning is to drop the parts into an ultrasonic unit with Acrastrip in it which does all the cleaning for you. In addition, it is the most detailed method for cleaning interior cavities, blind holes and thru holes.
- Once clean always rinse with water and blow parts off with an air knife if needed before reassembly.
- Rebuild the spray foam applicator.
Cleaning Wet Foam from Tools & Applicator Guns
When using Acrastrio to clean spray foam equipment we can remove wet foam from various surfaces. For applicator guns, remove the spray adapter and thoroughly cover the component with the DPM replacement solvent. Let the solvent soak the components then rinse for optimal spray application.
